sir,

Referring to the 2nd. paragraph of
your Confidential Despatch of the 25th. May, 1905, in which
you ask to be informed of the reply that should be returned
to the question of the Postmaster-General as to the provi-
-sion made under the new Postal Arrangement between this
Colony and China for the conveyance by Chinese Service of
mails from one British Ship of war to another, I have the
honour to inform you that there will be no alteration from
the practice at present in existence where the Imperial
Chinese Post Office handles mails for such ships at places
at which there is no British Agency. The mail bags are for-
-warded by the Chinese Post Office at which they are handed
in to the Chinese Post Office of destination and are called
for there by the Naval Postman or in special cases are
delivered by arrangement to His Majesty's Consul. For
RIGHT HONOURABLE
